LASER VISION CENTER
Kansas City’s Leaders in Eye Care, Experts in LASIK Laser Vision Correction
Until the early 90s, contacts and glasses were the only alternatives available to correct refractive errors. If you currently use any type of correction, you have what is known as a refractive error. In an eye without refractive error, the cornea and lens focus light rays onto the retina. When light rays are not correctly focused on the retina, one (or more) of the following refractive errors may occur:
Myopia (nearsightedness): Light rays are focused in front of the retina; distant objects appear blurry
Hyperopia (farsightedness): Light rays are focused behind the retina; close objects appear blurry
Astigmatism (distorted vision): Light rays are focused in front and behind the retina; near and far objects may appear blurry
Presbyopia (aging eyes): Natural aging process, which involves loss of lens elasticity and the ability to see up close
