Farsightedness (Hyperopia)

What is Farsightedness (Hyperopia)?

In the normal eye, light bends through the cornea and lens to focus on the retina. With hyperopia, the eye is shorter (or cornea is flatter) causing the focal point of light to be behind the retina. The image is out of focus and near vision is blurred.

Treatment of Hyperopia

Traditionally, corrective lenses (glasses or contacts) are used to compensate for hyperopic vision. Most cases of hyperopia may be corrected with LASIK laser vision correction.
