Because Discover Vision is dedicated to the ultimate eye health of our patients, we perform a very thorough eye exam. This eye exam has been described by many as one of the most thorough eye exams. We have a great deal of pride in getting proper diagnoses so we can impact your vision positively.
During our Discover Vision eye exam, you will undergo several tests and procedures to examine your eyes. It usually begins with an external examination referred to as a visual acuity test. During this test, you may need to read an eye chart. Visual acuity tests focus on the sharpness of your vision. There are also more specialized tests for specific regions and functions of the eyes. These are for pupil function, intraocular pressure, and more. Depending on how long it has been since your last eye exam, you may need to have your pupils dilated. Pupil dilation allows your eye doctor to have a better view of the internal eye structures.
Your eye doctor will dilate your eyes using dilating drops. A motility test determines the speed of your eye movement between two points. Because we have your eyes dilated, we will also examine the back of your eye to check for early signs of diabetic retinopathy and other debilitating retina eye conditions.
